What is this?
Invoice Generator is a free tool for creating professional invoices without starting from a blank page. Add business and customer details, list what you're billing for, and get a print- or email-ready invoice.
Who built it?
Brian Phillips, as a CSC 670 course project.
Why?
Contractors and freelancers often don't have a fast, no-fuss way to put together a clean invoice on the spot. This project is focused on getting that one thing right.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. Professional and Business become available to switch into as soon as they launch.
Is Basic really free?
Yes. Creating, printing, and saving invoices costs nothing on the Basic plan.
What happens to my invoices?
They stay yours, and nothing is watermarked. On Basic, they live in this browser's local storage, which is only as durable as your device: clearing your cache, switching browsers, or resetting your computer erases them for good. That's the one real gap Professional's server-backed storage closes.
Why would I pay for Professional if Basic already saves my invoices?
Because Basic's saving isn't the same as safekeeping. It's stored only in this one browser on this one device, so it can vanish the moment that device changes. Professional pays for a real server and database behind it: invoice history that never expires, saving any invoice as a reusable template, a template builder from scratch, and more design options — none of which a browser can do on its own.
When will the future updates happen?
There's no fixed date yet. Saved invoice history and local sign-in accounts are already live, both stored on your own device. Professional is planned to add real persistent, secure cloud storage, invoice history that never expires, reusable and custom-built templates, more invoice design options, and saved customers, once the project moves past this course module.
Is this maintained and kept up to date?
It's actively being built as part of an ongoing course project. The Basic plan is the stable, working version; anything marked Planned or Future isn't live yet.
Is my information safe?
Everything you type, including your logo and watermark image, stays in your browser on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
